Learning & Development Support - 9+ years

It starts with connection
For older children, connection might be a shared joke, a conversation about their favourite game, or the moment they realise an adult really gets them. That trust matters, especially for children who’ve had a lot of experiences of things being hard. When a child or young person feels understood and comfortable, they’re more willing to have a go, take a risk and keep going when something is tricky.

Once that trust is built, Britt shapes each session around your child’s interests, strengths and goals. Sessions are interest-led and hands-on, with goals built into activities your child actually wants to do. Every success, big or small, helps rebuild their confidence and belief in what they can do, at home, at school and in the community.

By the later primary years, many children who find school hard have learned to expect that they won’t succeed. That can chip away at their confidence and willingness to try. We turn that around by starting with what your child is good at and interested in, and by creating real experiences of success. Confidence comes first, because it makes everything else possible.

How we support your child

Working with your child’s team. We carry goals from any involved therapists (eg psychologist, OT, speech pathologist, physiotherapist) and the NDIS plan into everyday activities your child enjoys.

Independence. Following instructions, routines, organisation and everyday life skills.

Learning differences (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia). Building independence with tools and strategies like voice-to-text, typing and scribing, and following OT recommendations for physical supports.

Support at school. With the school’s agreement, we support your child in the setting and give teachers context and practical strategies.

Regulation and movement. Movement and coordination activities that help your child feel calm, focused and ready to learn, guided by OT or physio advice where relevant.

Supporting families with practical strategies for home.

How it works

  1. Get in touch for a free chat.

  2. Getting to know your child. We have a home visit to learn about you family and your child / young person, their strengths, interests and goals, including NDIS and therapy goals.

  3. Weekly sessions at home, school or in the community.

  4. Working together. Session notes, a progress summary each term and regular check-ins.
